چکیده

Based on the convex force-motion polynomial model for quasi-static sliding, we derive the kinematic contact model to determine the contact modes and instantaneous object motion on a supporting surface given a position controlled manipulator. The inherently stochastic object-to-surface friction distribution is modelled by sampling physically consistent parameters from appropriate distributions, with only one parameter to control the amount of noise. Thanks to the high fidelity and smoothness of convex polynomial models, the mechanics of patch contact is captured while being computationally efficient without mode selection at support points. The motion equations for both single and multiple frictional contacts are given. Simulation based on the model is validated with robotic pushing and grasping experiments. 1

Dynamic Behavior Analysis of a Planar Four-bar Linkage with Multiple Clearances Joint

In practice, clearances in the joints are inevitable due to tolerances, and defects arising from design and manufacturing. In the presence of clearance at a joint, a mechanism gains some additional, uncontrollable degrees of freedom which are the source of error. Moreover, joints undergo wear and backlashes and so cannot be used in precision mechanisms. In this study, the dynamic behaviour of ...

Planar Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Au Clusters in Pushing Process

Based on the fact the manipulation of fine nanoclusters calls for more precise modeling, the aim of this paper is to conduct an atomistic investigation for interaction analysis of particle-substrate system for pushing and positioning purposes. In the present research, 2D molecular dynamics simulations have been used to investigate such behaviors. Performing the planar simulations can provide a ...

Pose from pushing

In the absence of vision, grasping an object often relies on tactile feedback from the fingertips. Before force closure is formed, where on the object a fingertip touches can usually be felt from the motion of contact on the fingertip during a small amount of pushing. In this paper we investigate the first stage of such “blind” grasping. More specifically, we study the problem of determining th...

Modifying a Conventional Grasping Control Approach for Undesired Slippage Control in Cooperating Manipulator Systems

There have been many researches on object grasping in cooperating systems assuming no object slippage and stable grasp and the control system is designed to keep the contact force inside the friction cone to prevent the slippage. However undesired slippage can occur due to environmental conditions and many other reasons. In this research, dynamic analysis and control synthesis of a cooperating ...

A theory on grasping objects using effectors with curved contact surfaces and its application to whole-arm grasping

This paper develops a theoretical framework for grasping objects using customized effectors that have curved contact surfaces and presents its application to the problem of robotic whole-arm grasping. We present a collection of immobilizing grasps and cages that can effectively restrain the mobility of a wide range of object shapes including polyhedra. Each of the grasps or cages is formed by a...
